Confirming Your Wedding RSVPs | Type A Bride

RSVPs...

This admittedly can be one of the headaches as you prepare for your wedding.

I got the following question from a bride who is having her dream destination wedding this year:

This week was the week that we were to follow-up on unsent RSVPs...it's been just a tad frustrating that 1) people have missed the RSVP 'reply by' date or 2) they dearly, dearly want to come, however, for various reasons they cannot (which we totally understand!) but they are afraid to just say 'no.' We need to get a better grasp on a finalized headcount, though, for our vendors and for our own sake...

Any advice on how to deal with guests that are looking like a 'no' but that are afraid to say it? I have given them an absolute FINAL decision date (a few weeks from now). I just hope that they come to their own decision and I don't have to really grill down on them.

Here are some reminders we sent out for our wedding that may help some of you brides and grooms delicately request more action from your guests to RSVP. You'll notice we sent it out even to those who confirmed because you never know if things come up for people. We actually did get changed RSVPs after sending the second notice out.

Sent Near the Original Deadline for RSVPing
Reminder: The RSVP to our wedding is needed by this Wednesday! Unfortunately, we have not yet heard back from you.

Please follow the steps below to RSVP whether or not you'll be coming by MM/DD/YY (2 days from now):

Either RSVP online at www.yourweddingwebsite.com or email me at youremail@email.com.

Note: If we don't hear from you by MM/DD/YY, we will need to assume you are not coming as we will be giving that final guest list to the caterers shortly after.

We realize some of your invitations may still be in the mail. Please kindly RSVP in the methods above in the meantime. All the information on our wedding is posted on our website.
Thank you for your understanding! We really hope we'll be able to see you at our wedding!

Sent 3 Weeks Before the Wedding To Those That Already Confirmed (Just In Case)
Thank you for your RSVP. We're so excited that you'll be joining us at our wedding which is now just a little over 3 weeks away. We just wanted to share a few reminders in preparation for the big day… (add reminders)

…If for any reason you can no longer make it, please let us know ASAP: We're submitting our final headcount to the venue this Saturday. So, if for any reason you can no longer attend, we'll need to know so we can fill the empty seat.

What are your ideas for how else you can deal with the delicate subject of unsent RSVPs? I'd love to hear them!

Logically Yours,
